Appearance & Temperament

The Rhode Island Red being a rich reddish-brown is known for its rectangular profile enhanced by the long flat back, slightly raised tail and vertical breast. The head is held forward on a well-hackled neck and is topped with either a rose comb or a single, five-pointed serrated comb. It has bright prominent red eyes and earlobes and wattles are average. Sporting bright yellow legs like an old school golfer is a characteristic of the breed. They have four well-spaced toes on each foot.
